At Jordan Lexus, our team in Mishawaka is proud to support the Food 4 Kids Program, an initiative created by the Food Bank of Northern Indiana to help combat childhood hunger in South Bend and neighboring communities, such as Elkhart and Granger. The program helps ensure that students who require extra support have access to reliable and nutritious food throughout the school year.
Food insecurity affects more families across Michiana than many people realize. For some children, school meals are the most dependable source of nutrition they receive. The Food 4 Kids Program helps bridge that gap by sending home backpacks filled with kid-friendly, shelf-stable food every Thursday, helping students stay nourished through the weekend and return to school ready to learn.
All Jordan stores take part in the weekly delivery efforts. Each location contributes financially to the program, with up to $1,000 per month supporting food supplies, packing, and distribution. But our involvement goes beyond donations. Every Thursday, a rotating team of employees from our Lexus, Toyota, and Ford stores picks up six to twelve boxes of prepared food from the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and delivers them directly to partnering elementary schools in Mishawaka and South Bend. These deliveries help ensure that students receive their backpacks on time and that the program remains consistent week after week.
